Accolay vintage lamp – amber resin lampshade and ceramic base
Table lamp from the Accolay workshops, a community of potters based in Accolay (Yonne) in Burgundy, active from 1945 to 1983. A characteristic piece of French production from the 1960s-1970s, combining artisanal ceramics and decorative resin.
The lampshade: cylindrical in shape, it is made of resin that includes numerous shards and fragments of amber, gold, and copper, creating a highly sought-after granular and luminous effect in Accolay production. The light passes through the resin, revealing the rich chromatic diversity of the inclusions.
The base: turned ceramic, with a curved and bulging shape, it is covered in a cracked white glaze enhanced with fine black striations and speckles applied in a spiral, typical of the scarified slipware technique practiced by the potters of Accolay.
Period: 1960s-1970s.
Origin: Accolay workshops, France.
