Product description
Important high-relief wall art in glazed terracotta, handcrafted in Belgium. This highly realistic wall sculpture depicts a hussar on horseback from the First Empire, more precisely a trumpeter recognizable by his sky-blue inverted livery and his red trumpet flame trimmed with gold. Wearing a fur colback, he rides a rearing white stallion. The details of the briquet sabre, the cartridge box with the imperial eagle crest, and the golden brandebourgs demonstrate superb historical precision. The raw terracotta reverse shows its original suspension wires inserted into the mass, as well as an official sealed "Made in Belgium" label. An art workshop signature is very discreetly engraved with a point. Workshop: Production d'Art Belge (Thulin / Wasmuël Style) Period: Circa 1960 / 1970 Subject: Napoleonic Hussars Trumpeter Dimensions: 32 cm x 42 cm Thickness: 4 cm Material: Terracotta and lacquered polychrome enamels Condition: Excellent vintage condition, very shiny glaze
