Rare coffee table created by ceramist Jean Gregorieff in France in the 1970s. The tabletop consists of two large enameled ceramic tiles in off-white and ochre tones, adorned with stylized anthropomorphic motifs engraved into the material. The enamel work, deliberately irregular and nuanced, gives each panel a unique character. The ceramic tiles are set into a geometric metal structure, resting on two wide bent stainless steel legs. The contrast between the artisanal surface of the ceramic and the geometric rigor of the metal base offers a graphic strength to the design. A piece that is both functional and sculptural.
