Giancarlo Piani
Born in 1940 in Predappio (Forlì-Cesena), he passed away in Faenza on July 1, 1999.
He graduated as a technician from the “G. Ballardini” Art Institute in Faenza. After more than a year of experience at a ceramic paint factory, in 1967 he opened an artistic studio in Faenza, which allowed him to develop his talent as a ceramist while conducting passionate research on colors and glazes. For his particular creativity, the sculptor Angelo Biancini – already his teacher at the art institute – wanted him, starting in 1970, as a close collaborator and his valuable decorator. This collaboration lasted until Biancini's death in 1988. He received many awards and recognitions in Italy and abroad, and many of his works are now present in various private collections.
