About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
A face sculpted with rare precision. This glazed ceramic male bust is the work of a sculptor signed David, created in Coimbra (Portugal) in 1994. The modeling is of remarkable quality: finely incised forehead wrinkles, defined eyebrows, hair styled strand by strand, a concentrated and serious expression. The bronze-green patina with golden highlights convincingly mimics molten bronze, the quintessential noble material of academic sculpture.
Coimbra, city of ceramics and culture
Coimbra is one of Portugal's major university cities, with a ceramic tradition dating back to the 16th century. Its studio workshops produced high-quality pieces in the 20th century, often signed and dated. This bust fits into this tradition: a unique piece or small series, signed and dated, intended for collection or interior decoration.
