Ceramic bird-shaped box produced in the 1960s, featuring a refined sculptural presence and a beautifully textured surface.
Its soft, elongated lines reflect the organic aesthetic typical of post-war European artistic ceramics, while the distinctive glaze in shades of aqua green and grey, rich with irregular textures and tonal variations, gives the piece an almost mineral appearance.
The bird form is highly stylized yet perfectly balanced, with smooth continuous volumes transforming the container into a small decorative sculpture. The richly textured surface, achieved through layered and reactive glazes, recalls certain French ceramic productions from the Vallauris area during the 1950s and 1960s.
