Product description
Elegant and rather rare brush pot from Korea, in the style of literati objects from the Joseon Dynasty, vintage mid-20th century, 1940s-60s. Made of white/grey reticulated porcelain with a fine celadon glaze, cylindrical shape and geometric pierced decoration. The quality of the glaze, the elegant simplicity of the form, and the pierced decoration evoke the productions of the Joseon Dynasty, intended for scholars and calligraphy workshops. The base bears a calligraphic mark painted in underglaze blue, probably a traditional Hanja character, freely applied with a brush before firing. It is rare for this type of object to be marked.
Beautiful proportions, 15.5cm high, 12cm diameter. Very good overall condition, looks new despite its age. Note a slight area of glaze crazing on one rim, subtly revealing its age, as well as a chip under the base, invisible when placed. Approximately 800 to 900gr.
