The 637 Utrecht Purple is an iconic armchair from the Italian Cassina brand, released in an exclusive limited edition with special upholstery. The armchair was originally designed in 1935 by Gerrit T. Rietveld. It was designed for the Metz & Co department store in Amsterdam, with the idea of creating a piece of furniture that was more market-oriented than ever before. The result is an armchair with a unique design and an original design language, complemented by futuristic elements. The straight armrests, in contrast to the otherwise soft shapes of the armchair, are distinctive and have contributed to this piece's status as a true classic.
