A pharaoh is enthroned facing a queen or goddess, in the hieratic posture characteristic of ancient Egyptian reliefs. The scene is framed by papyrus columns, a radiating sun disc, and finely engraved hieroglyphic cartouches. The detail is striking: ceremonial headdresses, usekh collars, ritual gestures – each element refers to the royal iconography of the 18th Dynasty, that of Tutankhamun and Akhenaten. The panel is carved in bas-relief from a light, fine-grained wood, probably beech or linden, in a square format of approximately 27 x 27 cm. The carving work is meticulous, the volumes well-defined, the lines sharp. The back is smooth and untreated. This type of panel was produced in Egypt for the quality tourist market in the 1960s-1980s by artisans trained in traditional woodcarving techniques. Placed on a shelf, hung on a wall, or integrated into a cabinet of curiosities, this panel brings a sober and cultivated sculptural presence that harmonizes equally well with a contemporary interior or a decoration inspired by travel and archaeology.
