With his unique style, Armand Campi evokes an atmosphere reminiscent of old masters such as Turner, Goya, and Moreau. Paintings in colors that breathe a Latin spirit, a sensual world of moving women in interiors with pleasantly warm light. Campi's canvases always show the drive, the undiluted passion, and the unadulterated painter's urge. His work radiates immense tranquility. Looking at Campi's work is special. It is an event; very slowly and subtly, the canvas begins to live. The paintings are alternately subdued and explosive, plastic and enigmatic. A Frenchman born in Vichy in 1942, raised in Havana, Cuba, returned to Europe via Spain to France, and then worked for forty years in the Netherlands.
