Product description
Single bed from 1963 designed by the Danish duo Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for the manufacturer Søborg Møbelfabrik. The bed frame is made of solid teak wood, with a headboard and footboard featuring woven cane panels of the same height (74 cm), so it can function as a sofa or daybed. This model, identified as number 321 in the original Soborg catalogs, retains its original metal spring base. Manufactured in Denmark, the piece shows the craftsmanship and attention to detail characteristic of the era. The general condition of the bed is good, except for some minor details to review in the photographs. The teak wood retains its original finish and warm tone, and the structure remains solid and functional. The combination of teak and cane gives it a light and organic character. Søborg Møbelfabrik produced high-quality furniture since its creation in 1890 in Copenhagen by cabinetmaker Jacob Jacobsen. From 1930, they committed to emerging cabinetmakers, architects, and designers who would later become stars of Danish design such as Peter Hvidt, Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, Mogens Lassen, Brent Petersen, and Borge Mogensen. It measures 195 cm long x 91 cm wide. The cane sides have a height of 74 cm. It is made for a mattress of 85 x 190 cm.
