This chair, entirely made of leather, was a novelty and has since been widely copied.' This is how Mario Bellini describes Cab, a best-seller he designed in the 1970s, which is now an iconic piece of Cassina's I Contemporanei collection. Cab was the very first chair with a self-supporting leather structure, inspired by the way skin fits over a skeleton. Its manufacturing process involves fourteen distinct steps, all carried out by hand. The pieces are only assembled after being die-cut on their outer edges to ensure a perfect fit. Once assembled, the cover is fitted over the chair's steel frame and zipped into place, like a bespoke garment. Excellent overall condition, with some minor signs of wear. We have a total of 10 chairs available, sold separately. The price indicated is for 1 chair.
