Product description
This is a classic English captain's chair, made from solid wood. The design is characterized by the curved backrest and armrests that flow into each other, supported by turned spindles, resulting in an iconic and recognizable silhouette. The chair is entirely made of dark brown wood with a visible grain structure. The construction includes turned legs and spindles, a technique that adds both sturdiness and decorative value, and an H-shaped connection between the legs ensures extra stability. This type of chair, also known as a 'smoker's bow chair', originates from 19th-century England. The overall condition of the chair is consistent with its age and use. The wood has developed a rich patina over the years, contributing to the authentic character of the furniture piece. The construction is still robust and functional. Thanks to its timeless and robust appearance, this chair functions excellently as a characterful office chair in a classic or rural interior. It is also a stylish addition to a library, reading nook, or as a solitary armchair in a living room.
