This brutalist safari chair from the 1960s stands out with its striking construction of solid wood and heavy saddle leather. The Brazilian design almost completely dispenses with screws or glue, relying instead on visible, handcrafted mortise-and-tenon connections. Solid dowels pass through the frame’s broad wooden side panels. They project at different lengths and support the seat. The thick cognac-brown leather forms a cantilevered sling seat, tensioned with straps and buckles. The backrest is articulated and adapts to the angle of the sitter’s back.
