Product description
A very special and distinctly Brutalist sculpture lamp from the 1970s, crafted from heavy metal, presumably bronze or a bronze alloy. The lamp is designed entirely as an art object. Whimsical, organic, and almost fused structures run across the tall cylindrical base. Various abstract faces and masks can be discovered in the design, giving the lamp a different appearance from every angle. The openwork construction is particularly noteworthy. The light source is located inside the sculpture and shines outwards through the many hand-formed openings. This creates a beautiful, warm interplay of light, shadow, and gold/copper tones in the evening. The top is executed very expressively with heavy, dripping, and almost lava-like forms. Consequently, even when the lighting is switched off, the lamp functions excellently as a standalone Brutalist art object. The maker is currently unknown. The object is unmarked and is therefore deliberately not attributed to a specific artist or designer.
