Product description
A vintage set of 4 brutalist oak razorback dining chairs with green velvet upholstery, made by an unknown European maker and likely produced in the 1970s. With their solid oak frames, sculptural cut-out backs, tall razorback side profiles and warm olive green seats, these vintage brutalist dining chairs bring a strong architectural presence to the dining room while keeping a soft, tactile feel.
Origin: Europe
Period: 1970s
Style: Brutalist, rustic modern, 1970s European design
Materials: Oak, velvet upholstery, upholstered seat
Dimensions: 47 W x 55 D x 84 H cm (18.5 W x 21.7 D x 33.1 H in)
Seat height: 46 cm (18.1 in)
Quantity: Set of 4
The chairs are defined by their expressive oak construction, distinctive razorback silhouette, wavy vertical side supports and open backrests with carved circular cut-out details. The strong wood grain gives each chair a grounded, almost handcrafted character, while the green velvet seats soften the sculptural frame and add a quiet 1970s warmth.
Brutalist oak dining chairs of this type are commonly associated with European 1970s furniture, where solid wood, expressive profiles and tactile materials were often used to create heavy, architectural forms.
Condition
Good vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its period. The oak frames show visible patina, surface scratches, small marks, dents and wear throughout, especially around the legs, edges and backrests. The green velvet upholstery is in good usable condition with some light age-related wear.
