A Striking Belgian Brutalist Table Lamp Attributed to Willy Luyckx for Aluclair, Dating From the 1960s–1970s. The Lamp Features a Tall Cylindrical Aluminium Base With a Highly Distinctive Organic Relief Surface, Characteristic of Luyckx’s Sculptural Work in Aluminium. The Textured Decoration Gives the Otherwise Simple Cylindrical Form a Strong Sculptural Presence and Beautifully Illustrates the Expressive Character of Belgian Brutalist Design. The Aluminium Base is Complemented by an Exceptionally Characterful Original Period Fabric Shade in Deep Brown-Black, Finished With Elegant Metallic-Gold Coloured Edging Along Both the Upper and Lower Rims. The Shade Has a Wonderfully Authentic Period Appearance and Adds a Warm, Atmospheric Quality to the Lamp When Illuminated. The Combination of the Sculptural Silver-Toned Aluminium, Dark Textile Shade and Subtle Gold Detailing Creates a Sophisticated and Highly Decorative Presence.
