Product description
A refined bronze sculpture by Dutch artist Francine Govers, created in the 1990s. The work depicts a standing female torso, reduced to its essential form and rendered with a calm yet powerful presence.
The elongated proportions and softly modelled contours give the sculpture an elegant vertical rhythm, while the absence of the head and arms shifts the focus entirely toward posture, balance, and sculptural volume. The subtle asymmetry of the body introduces a quiet sense of movement within the otherwise restrained composition.
Executed in dark patinated bronze, the surface possesses a smooth tactile quality that gently reflects light across the curved planes of the figure. Minor irregularities and traces within the material enhance the sculpture’s handmade and organic character.
Mounted on a solid stone base, the work gains a strong architectural grounding that contrasts beautifully with the softness of the female form. The sculpture reflects Govers’ restrained figurative language, balancing abstraction and corporeality in a timeless and quietly monumental composition.
Condition
Very good condition, with minimal signs of wear consistent with age.
