Product description
This is a bronze sculpture by the Dutch artist Carel Kneulman (1915-2008). The work, titled “Het Lieverdje”, is a smaller version of the well-known statue located on the Spui in Amsterdam and has become a symbol of youthful rebelliousness.
The sculpture is made of bronze and depicts a slender, stylized figure with hands on hips. The statue is mounted on a solid square base of dark marble, which creates an elegant contrast with the bronze. The expressive and somewhat rough finish is characteristic of Kneulman's post-war modernist style.
The statue is in good condition consistent with its age. The bronze has developed a deep, natural patina that contributes to the character and authenticity of the artwork. The marble base is intact and provides a stable foundation.
