Product description
This bronze Sculpture, attributed to the French sculptor Mathurin Moreau, depicts a young girl in prayer. The work, titled 'Morning Prayer', captures a moment of serene devotion and is a characteristic example of the academic, realistic style of the 19th century. The Sculpture is made of bronze with a dark brown patina that accentuates the fine details of the girl's dress and hair. The Sculpture is 29cm high, 23cm wide and 21cm deep. The Sculpture weighs 4.7 kilos Unmarked The figure kneels on a detailed cushion with tassels at the corners, adding texture and depth to the composition. The expressive rendering of the face and posture testifies to the craftsmanship associated with the Moreau dynasty of sculptors. The overall condition of the Sculpture is good, in accordance with its age. The original patina is largely intact and has acquired a characterful appearance over time. The Sculpture is hollow cast, a common technique for works of this type and size. This classic Sculpture is a refined addition to an interior with a classic or eclectic decor. It can serve as an elegant object on a dresser, console or in a library, where it creates an atmosphere of peace and contemplation.
