Rare medieval water kettle "Lavabo". Presumably Flemish or South Netherlandish, 15th/16th century.
Old bronze/copper lavabo with two spouts and a hanging mechanism, in two parts.
The spouts are decorated with an animal head.
They were used for washing hands during meals. They were also found in churches. They usually hung in a niche in the wall and served as handwashing aid for the priest during Holy Mass. Hygiene was already a high priority at that time.
Museum piece, unique.
