This brick-red enameled tin lunch pail was designed for taking to work. With its 14 cm height and 10 cm diameter, it fit into the worker's, mason's, or railwayman's haversack or basket, carried every morning with lunch. The twisted wire handle, articulated on two forged iron side rings, allowed it to be hung or carried effortlessly. The original lid is present, with its matching enameled semi-circular grip. The interior is enameled light blue, a striking contrast with the deep brick red of the exterior. Only a single point of enamel chipping is to be noted. The item is intended for decorative use. French production, 1920s-1950s. Placed on a kitchen shelf or slipped into a vintage arrangement, it directly tells the story of work and the daily routines of an era when enamel was an everyday material.
