Product description
Beautiful antique English enameled earthenware hot water bottle, manufactured by Grimwades Ltd in England, circa 1910-1920. Model "The Mecca", bearing the green stamp "The Mecca – Grimwades Ltd England – Hot Water Bottle – Reg. No. 571373 – A" under the base. Beautiful streamlined and curved shape entirely covered with a shiny cream-white enamel, with two integrated eyelets on the shoulders. It retains its large fluted screw cap and its seal. An identical example, bearing the same registration number 57/373 A, is preserved in the collections of the London Museum and dated 1901-1920.
26cm high, approximately 16cm wide and 9cm deep. Very good general condition, some small marks of patina and natural age-related enamel crazing. The ceramic thread of the cap has an old chip on its lower part, without hindering its placement. Approximately 1kg.
Decorative use is recommended over its original use as a hot water bottle, as this antique object may have been weakened by time and no longer complies with current safety standards.
