Postmodern pepper mill by Bodum from the 1980s, attributed to the Danish designer Richard Nissen, who designed several mills for Bodum together with Carsten Jørgensen. The mill features a conical body of transparent acrylic (lucite), topped with a gold-colored metal ring with two round gold-colored discs and a black conical top with a bulbous handle. The design is characteristic of the postmodern design language of the 1980s, akin to the Memphis style: playful geometric basic shapes — cone, circle, sphere — in contrasting materials. Bodum, founded in Copenhagen by Peter Bodum, is known for Scandinavian kitchen design under the motto “good design doesn’t have to be expensive”. Vintage design objects by Bodum from this period are included in the collections of the MoMA Design Store archive, among others. Condition: good vintage condition, working grinding mechanism. Normal light signs of use consistent with age.
