Product description
An elegant Art Deco faience pitcher by Boch Frères La Louvière, produced in Belgium during the 1930s. With its refined proportions, soft mint-green glaze, and sculptural gilded handle, this piece beautifully reflects the understated sophistication and modern elegance characteristic of Belgian Art Deco ceramics.
The pitcher features a harmonious silhouette composed of a rounded bulbous body and an elongated cylindrical neck, creating a balanced architectural form typical of the period. The delicate pale green glaze gives the object a calm and luxurious presence, while the richly gilded handle and base introduce a striking decorative contrast. The subtle geometric shaping and minimalist aesthetic allow the purity of form and colour to become the central artistic statement.
Particularly elegant is the flowing handle, entirely finished in gold lustre, which adds depth and refinement to the otherwise restrained modernist design. The piece remains in very good vintage condition overall. There is some gentle wear and patina to the gilding, fully consistent with the age of the object and typical for a ceramic piece that is now nearly 100 years old.
The underside bears the Boch Frères La Louvière factory mark, confirming its authenticity and Belgian origin. During the interwar period, Boch Frères became internationally recognised for its innovative ceramic production and important contribution to European Art Deco decorative arts. Their creations combined refined craftsmanship with modern forms and elegant glazes, making the manufactory one of the most respected names in Belgian ceramics.
