Product description
Boch Frères La Louvière – Keramis – Art Deco Vase with Polychrome Floral Decoration and Gilded Sculptural Handles – Belgium, circa 1920-30s
An elegant and highly decorative Art Deco ceramic vase produced by the renowned Belgian manufactory Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, dating from the 1920-30s.
The vase features a beautifully rounded, almost spherical body, decorated with an exuberant arrangement of colourful flowers against a delicate ivory-white background. Vibrant purple irises, pink roses, orange blossoms and numerous smaller wildflowers create a lively botanical composition, rich in colour and charming detail.
Particularly distinctive are the two sculptural handles, with their unusual undulating silhouettes and luxurious gilded finish. These expressive decorative elements are characteristic of the creative approach of Boch Frères Keramis during the Art Deco period, combining traditional craftsmanship with bold, modern forms.
The contrast between the generously rounded body, the delicate floral decoration and the striking golden handles gives the vase a remarkable decorative presence.
Despite being approximately a century old, the vase remains in good vintage condition. There is some wear to the gilding, particularly on the handles and around the rim, entirely consistent with its age and history. These traces of time do not detract from its decorative appeal.
Measuring approximately 16 cm in height, this charming vase is a wonderful collector’s piece and an excellent example of Belgian decorative ceramics from the early 20th century.
Its distinctive silhouette and vibrant floral decoration make it particularly attractive in a contemporary interior, where it can serve as a striking decorative accent on a console, bookshelf or side table.
