Product description
Blue Murano Glass bottle with an amber leaf-shaped stopper, designed by Yoichi Ohira for De Majo in 1992. Ø 8 cm H 27 cm. Yoichi Ohira (1946–2022) was one of the most original figures in contemporary glass, capable of uniting Japanese aesthetic sensibility with the great artisanal tradition of Murano. Having moved to Venice in the 1970s, he developed a profound body of work deeply linked to collaborations with Muranese master glassmakers, including Livio Serena and Giacomo Barbini. His works, often created as unique pieces, combine traditional techniques such as murrine, glass rods, filigree, and incalmo with sophisticated surface treatments. In his vases, the glass takes on an almost pictorial and material quality: colors, textures, and transparencies evoke stones, water, landscapes, and natural forms. The encounter between Japanese culture and Venetian craftsmanship gives rise to an immediately recognizable language, which has made Ohira a reference figure in art glass and collectible design.
