Description of the painting
A flock of birds appears in fine black lines against a light, almost white background. The animals are recognizable, yet simultaneously depicted loosely and sketchily. Some birds seem to stand out clearly, while others partially disappear into the texture of the paint.
The composition has no fixed center. The gaze constantly moves from bird to bird, giving the work a sense of flow and rhythm. The many different postures—flying, turning, descending, or ascending—make the group feel lively and changeable.
Small accents of red and green appear between the black and white. Precisely because these colors are applied sparingly, they stand out even more. They give the work energy without disrupting the calm, almost graphic appearance.
The thick layers of white paint and visible textures ensure that some forms are partially covered. As a result, it seems as if the birds are emerging from the surface and disappearing back into it. This makes the work less literal and more poetic.
The painting can be interpreted as an image of moving together without losing oneself. Every bird is part of the whole, but retains its own direction and posture. In this way, an interplay emerges between the individual and the group, freedom and connectedness.
