Product description
Antique Groningen Spouted Can – Biedermeier (approx. 1850)
For sale: an original tin spouted can from the Groningen region. This object dates from the 19th-century Biedermeier period and served as a coffee pot in North Dutch households at the time.
Features and Condition
This piece is made of thin sheet metal (tin), as evidenced by its weight of 700 grams (including lid). The object has a height of 39 cm and a diameter of 14 cm.
The can is missing its accompanying stand (the chafing dish) and the tap at the bottom is no longer functional. However, the focus of this object is on its visual condition: the lacquer layer has developed an authentic patina that immediately reveals its age of approximately 170 years. In addition, the hand-painted floral decoration in red and green on the black background has been preserved.
