Antique Biedermeier mirror veneered in cherry wood, Southern Germany, circa 1830.
Restored by adding missing pieces to both sides of the cornice and the right side of the base, all refinished and hand-polished with shellac.
The rest has been preserved in its original patina: a small gap under the mirror's base, slight separation of the mount on the top and bottom edges, without significant damage.
This period mirror is quite mottled, but possesses as much charm as an ancient manuscript: the silvering, with its meandering patterns in the recesses, evokes the mysteries of a parchment...
One can admire the delicacy of its narrow lines, perfectly suited to small spaces.
