This piece of furniture is an antique Biedermeier secretaire (also known as a secrétaire à abattant or drop-front secretaire). Considering its age, it still looks good! For active use, it might need some internal reinforcement, but as an antique decoration, it's still perfectly fine, in my opinion.... Origin and Features
Period: Mid-19th century (circa 1840–1880).
Style: Biedermeier. This is recognizable by the typical semi-circular, wavy top, the sleek yet elegant construction, and the interior with characteristic small drawers and a central door behind the writing flap.
Wood type: Presumably made of mahogany wood (or mahogany veneer), which was very popular at the time for this type of chic bourgeois furniture.
Country of origin: This type of model was widely produced in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
