Exceptionally beautiful, original lithograph in the highly personal, somewhat alienating style of Bernhard Jäger. Published in 1972 by the renowned Berlin gallery Brusberg. Titled "Endspiel" in pencil by the artist, numbered (74/80), dated (1972), and signed. Dimensions: 50 x 65 cm. In mint condition! Never framed.
Bernhard Jäger studied biology before devoting himself to art. He began art instruction at the Werkkunstschule (Work Art School) in Offenbach-am-Main. He then established a printing studio and in 1961 founded the publishing house "Gulliver-Presse," which specialized in bibliophile publications. From 1966 onward, he worked more intensively on his own art production. At its core is the human being and their physical and psychological condition. From 1984 to 2000, he taught at the Frankfurter Städel evening school. He also created large-scale oil and acrylic paintings there.
In 1998, he received an award from the Heitland Foundation, and his illustrated books have been awarded the "Most Beautiful Book of the Year" prize several times by the "Buchkunst" Foundation.
