About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
The Bergere armchair, designed by the iconic duo Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Maxalto, is a masterpiece of Italian design. This set, consisting of two armchairs and a matching ottoman, displays the characteristic combination of robust materials and refined lines that defines the Scarpas' work. The design offers a timeless aesthetic that exudes both comfort and architectural clarity.
Crafted with a sturdy wooden frame, likely rosewood or a similar dark wood, the chair provides a solid base for the lush cushions. The upholstery is finished in supple black leather, creating a strong contrast with the warm tones of the wood. The construction showcases craftsmanship with clean stitching and a thoughtful integration of the cushions within the wooden framework. The accompanying ottoman shares the same design language and materialization, creating a cohesive whole.
The set is in a condition commensurate with its age and use, while retaining its structural integrity and character. The leather has developed a natural patina that contributes to the furniture's vintage appearance. The wooden elements display the original finish, underscoring the authenticity of the design.
This Bergere set comes into its own perfectly in a modern or mid-century inspired interior. The combination of black leather and warm wood makes it a versatile addition to a living room or study, where it serves as both a statement piece and a comfortable seating area.
