Product description
This is a sculpture by the Belgian artist Paul Sersté (1910-2000), who depicted the image of the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus in terracotta.
The work is a beautiful example of his figurative style, with a serene and tender appearance.
The sculpture is made of terracotta and has a striking finish. The figures' clothing is covered with a glossy, light blue glaze that has a pearlescent sheen, while the faces and hands are left in a natural, unglazed brown tone. The work is signed by the artist, "P. Sersté", on the bottom.
The overall condition of the sculpture is very good, retaining its original colors and glossy glaze. The work shows the characteristic craftsmanship of Sersté, who was known for his expressive and human figures. This piece fits perfectly in a space where it adds a touch of vintage charm and artistic warmth.
