Product description
This bedside table with its characteristic Bauhaus influence comes from A. Farina, Lissone (Italy), a manufacturer who produced functional steel furniture for hospitals and doctor's offices from the 1930s to the 1950s.
The furniture shows the combination of lacquered steel sheet and chrome-plated tubular frame typical of this era. The clear lines, rounded edges, and restrained color emphasize the functionalist character, which was aimed at durability and hygiene.
The body consists of cream-colored lacquered metal, while the upper shelf is bordered with a narrow black trim. The construction is supported by a chrome-plated tubular frame, which transitions into handles on the sides – a detail that not only looks light but also offered practical use, for example, when moving the furniture.
A drawer with a metallic knob and a compartment with a shelf underneath offer storage space. The embossing A. Farina Lissone on the side wall refers to its origin from the northern Italian furniture town of Lissone near Milan, a center for industrial design production in the 20th century.
Condition: Age-appropriate, authentic original condition with signs of wear, paint chips, slight rust, and patina on the metal parts. The chrome surfaces show dull spots and scratches, the front has discoloration and signs of use. Overall stable construction with a beautiful industrial character and authentic aging.
