This is a vintage table lamp designed by Josef Hůrka for the manufacturer Napako in the 1960s. Originating from former Czechoslovakia, the piece is a fine example of the functionalist and industrial design principles prevalent in Eastern Europe during the mid-century period. Its compact form and adjustable shade embody the era's focus on utility and minimalist aesthetics.
The lamp is constructed from chrome-plated metal, featuring a circular base, a simple curved arm, and a pivoting shade that allows for directional light. The design is completed with a classic black fabric-covered electrical cord and a small white toggle switch located on the base. The silver-toned chrome finish gives it a distinctly industrial character.
This piece presents in a good vintage condition, retaining its original components and finish. It exhibits a natural patina and signs of wear consistent with its age and history, which contribute to its authentic character. The structural integrity of the lamp remains solid.
With its modest footprint, this lamp is well-suited for use as a bedside light, a task lamp on a desk, or an accent light on a side table. Its timeless design complements interiors ranging from Mid-Century Modern and Bauhaus to contemporary industrial styles.
