Product description
This is a Mid-Century table lamp designed by Josef Hurka for the manufacturer Napako in the 1960s. Originating from former Czechoslovakia, the piece is a notable example of the country's contribution to post-war industrial and lighting design. Its compact form and functional aesthetic are characteristic of Hurka's work from this period.
The lamp is constructed from metal with a polished chrome finish on its circular base and articulated arm. The parabolic shade, also metal, directs light effectively and is finished with a reflective white interior to maximize illumination. An integrated switch is located on the base for ease of use. This model, identified as Typ 3533, was designed for a 40W bulb, making it suitable for ambient or task lighting.
In its original state, the lamp carries a distinct patina that attests to its history and use over several decades. The character of the piece is defined by its authentic, unrestored condition. This table lamp is well-suited for a desk, nightstand, or side table, where its industrial yet refined silhouette can complement Mid-Century Modern, Bauhaus, or minimalist interiors.
