Private sellerProduct description
This bedside table lamp, designed by J. Hurka for the renowned manufacturer Napako, originates from the former Czechoslovakia during the 1960s. The piece stands as a quintessential example of Eastern European mid-century lighting design, celebrated for its utilitarian elegance and distinctive silhouette. Its canonical form and playful patterned shade make it a highly desirable acquisition for collectors of authentic twentieth-century design. The construction features a polished chrome-plated metal base and a gracefully curved arm that supports the adjustable shade. The shade itself is rendered in a soft yellow hue, accented with striking orange geometric motifs that evoke the atomic and space-age influences of the era. A simple push-button switch is integrated directly into the base, maintaining the clean lines of the fixture. The lamp retains its original wiring configuration, complete with a black fabric-covered cord. In terms of condition, the lamp remains in good vintage order, fully functional and structurally sound. It exhibits an authentic patina that speaks to its decades of use, preserving the original character and historical integrity of the piece without compromising its aesthetic appeal. This compact lighting fixture is perfectly scaled for intimate spaces. It serves as an excellent bedside companion or a characterful accent on a small desk or console. The lamp seamlessly integrates into mid-century modern interiors, adding a touch of historical narrative and warm illumination to the curated home.
