Mario Ceroli is a prominent Italian sculptor closely associated with the Arte Povera movement and Pop Art. His furniture blurs the line between functional design and fine art.
Because the beds were produced in limited numbers in the 1970s, they are extremely rare on the market today.
The headboard: The most striking element is the stylized, anthropomorphic carving of a face in the headboard, directly inspired by the famous ancient Roman relief Bocca della Verità (Blush of Truth).
• The material: The entire bed frame is made entirely of solid Russian pine (pino russo). Ceroli used the characteristic, coarse grain and warm color of this wood as his artistic trademark.
• The construction: This is a very heavy, sculptural piece of furniture. The bed frame often rests on a wide, pedestal-like wooden platform, which sometimes incorporates bedside tables or shelves.
• The markings: Original pieces bear the artist's brand signature and the Poltronova production stamp.
Available with excellent, like-new slatted bed bases upon request.
For organizational reasons, collection/shipping is possible at the beginning of October.
