A beautiful, identical pair of antique Neo-Gothic altar candlesticks (spike candlesticks) made of solid brass/bronze. These imposing candlesticks date from the second half of the 19th century (approx. 1850 - 1900) and are presumably of French or Belgian origin. It is a very richly decorated model in the characteristic Neo-Gothic style. The shaft features an elegant diamond pattern and the openwork cup at the top has a fine cloverleaf motif. The candlesticks rest on a sturdy, three-legged base decorated with religious cross shields and classic claw feet. Large pillar candles can be easily placed on the central metal pin (spike). Condition: The candlesticks are in excellent, undamaged antique condition. They have deliberately not been polished, giving the bronze/brass a beautiful, lived-in dark patina. For lovers of authentic religious antiques, this is exactly the desired look. If you prefer a high-gloss finish, they can be made fully shiny golden again with brass polish. Height 40 cm Due to weight, pick-up is preferred.
