Private sellerProduct description
BBPR for Olivetti – “Spazio” Modular Bookcase, Italy, 1950s. An exceptionally refined example from the iconic Spazio series designed by BBPR for Olivetti, embodying the intellectual elegance and architectural rigour that defined post-war Italian design at its finest. Constructed in lacquered steel, the composition combines adjustable shelving with an integrated storage cabinet, creating a harmonious balance between utility and visual lightness. The slender uprights, delicate cross-bracing and sculptural metal panels reveal the unmistakable influence of architectural thinking, transforming a functional storage system into a sophisticated interior statement. Conceived for executive offices and cultured private residences, the Spazio programme represented Olivetti's visionary commitment to modern living, where technological progress, craftsmanship and aesthetic excellence coexisted seamlessly. Today, surviving examples are increasingly sought after by discerning collectors, architects and connoisseurs of twentieth-century design, celebrated for their timeless proportions, historical significance and enduring versatility.
