Iconic "Le Bambole" two-seat sofa by B&B Italia, originally designed in 1972 by Mario Bellini and widely regarded as one of the most influential seating designs of the 20th century. The Le Bambole collection revolutionized contemporary furniture design with its soft, sculptural volumes and exceptional comfort.
In 1979, Mario Bellini was awarded the prestigious Compasso d’Oro for the Le Bambole collection — Italy’s highest honor in industrial design — underscoring the design’s cultural and innovative significance.
This particular example was manufactured in 1988 and represents an early, original production of the Le Bambole. These earlier editions are distinguished by their richer internal filling, more generous proportions, and a higher level of craftsmanship and material quality compared to later re-editions, making them especially sought after by collectors.
The sofa has been fully and professionally restored by a specialist conservator with dedicated expertise in restoring Le Bambole sofas.
