This fantastic, incredibly retro vase by Bay Keramik is a beautiful example of the minimalist modernist style from the late 40s and early 50s. The vase (model 553-20) has the organic 'Fischmaul' (fish mouth) shape with a slightly asymmetrical opening at the top. The design stands out due to the refined Sgraffito technique: crisp vertical lines are scratched into the deep, dark brown glaze layer and highlighted with gold paint, creating a beautiful contrast. The inside and the top rim are finished with a chic gold-colored glaze. The bottom is marked with the model number 553, the height 20 (cm), and "GERMANY" in the typical retro relief script.
