About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is an Olimpia bowl from the Italian manufacturer Barazzoni, part of their esteemed Progetti collection. The design is a notable example of late 20th-century Italian design, defined by its minimalist form and the sophisticated contrast between industrial and organic materials.
The bowl is constructed from a wide, shallow disc of polished steel, which creates a reflective and expansive surface. At its center, a hemispherical element made of warm-toned wood provides a distinct focal point, offering an organic counterpoint to the sleek feel of the metal. This piece exemplifies the 'Made in Italy' quality for which Barazzoni is known, combining functional design with precise aesthetic considerations.
This vintage piece remains in good condition, showing signs of use consistent with its age and history as a decorative object. The steel surface maintains much of its original reflective quality, and the central wooden detail is intact, preserving the integrity of the design. The overall character of the bowl reflects its journey through time.
As a substantial centerpiece, this Olimpia bowl is well-suited for a dining table, console, or a large coffee table within a modern or minimalist interior. Its clean lines and material interplay would complement spaces that favour Italian Design or Mid-Century Modern aesthetics.
