This is a classic Dutch ball chandelier, made of brass and dating from the period 1880-1900. The design is characteristic of the historical styles popular at the end of the 19th century, with an elegant and stately appearance.
The chandelier is constructed from a central, baluster-shaped column ending in a characteristic polished ball at the bottom. The fixture has a total of nine light points, divided into two levels. The lower, wider layer consists of six elegantly curved S-shaped arms, while the upper, smaller layer is equipped with three arms. The gold-colored brass construction gives the whole a warm and rich luster.
That the chandelier dates from the period 1880-1900 can be traced back to the gas tap; this was the only period when lamps were made for gas, after which electricity made its appearance.
The overall condition of the chandelier is excellent, especially considering its age of over a century. The brass has developed a consistent patina that contributes to the authentic character of the piece. The wiring is visible and appears to have been renewed, making the lamp suitable for contemporary use.
