Product description
Nils Thorsson joined Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice in 1912 and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy in 1917. From 1949, he served as artistic director at Royal Copenhagen and also as artistic director of Alumina from 1928 to 1969. He was the driving force behind four of Denmark's largest ceramic collections: SOLBERG (from 1930), MARSELIS (from 1950), TENERA (from 1960), and BACA (from 1964). He also produced numerous, lesser-known and rarer enamel art pieces. His pieces from the 1950s to 1970s are highly popular works from Royal Copenhagen and are now considered excellent examples of Scandinavian modernism. Nils Thorsson's motifs and designs range from abstraction to naturalism, including geometric patterns. Many appreciate Nils Thorsson's BACA collection for the precision and complexity of its designs.
