Product description
An exceptionally rare and highly collectible B12 console or side table, originally designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928. One of the most elegant examples of early tubular steel furniture, the design is distinguished by its striking asymmetrical composition, with the lower shelf extending beyond the shorter upper shelf. This particular example was manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s by Mora Moravia under Thonet license. Production by Mora Moravia ceased with the outbreak of the Second World War, making surviving examples of their tubular steel furniture extremely rare today. The table remains completely original, retaining its original construction and the Mora Moravia trademark label. The wooden shelves have been professionally restored while preserving the character and integrity of the piece. The original chrome-plated tubular steel frame has been carefully polished, retaining its authentic surface and period character. A remarkable piece of European Modernism and an important collector's example of Marcel Breuer's pioneering tubular steel designs.
