This authentic Dento Kokeshi from the traditional Togatta lineage was crafted by master Shoichi Kanno (1935–present), a recognized representative of the classic Togatta school and a pupil of the renowned Kichisuke Agatsuma. The piece dates from the mid to late Showa period and represents the refined craftsmanship for which this lineage is internationally acclaimed. With its elegant silhouette, richly painted chrysanthemums, and warm natural patina, this Kokeshi is a beautiful example of traditional Japanese folk art and a valuable addition to any serious collection.

Togatta Tradition
The Togatta school is among Japan's oldest and most influential Dento Kokeshi traditions. Its elegant cylindrical shape, refined facial expression, and floral decorations characterize this historical style, which has been passed down from master to pupil for generations.
Tehen Motif: The red halo pattern on the top of the head is a classic hallmark of the Togatta lineage.
Chrysanthemums (Kiku): The richly painted red flowers symbolize happiness, dignity, perseverance, and longevity in Japanese culture.
Master-Pupil Tradition: Shoichi Kanno was trained by the renowned master Kichisuke Agatsuma and continued his craft tradition.
