About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
Rare Jacobean/Early Georgian oak blanket chest with original ironwork, late 17th or very early 18th century.
While the ironwork has often been replaced over the centuries, this chest still features its original hand-forged iron strap hinges, secured with iron nails. Inside, you'll find the fully intact oak candle box and the impressive, richly decorated hand-forged hasp lock with an ornate backplate.
The front is decorated with traditional folkloric floral motifs. The oak furniture has a beautiful dark aged patina and is completely sturdy and functional.
