Product description
For sale is an exceptional Austrian vintage wall thermometer from the mid-century period, likely from the 1950s or 60s.
This decorative metal object features an oval frame adorned with curved branches, stylized leaves, and a three-dimensional bird. The black patinated surface, with its partially visible warm metallic tone, lends the piece a particularly characteristic mid-century look.
The design is similar to known thermometers attributed to Walter Bosse for Herta Baller, Vienna. Since this particular example lacks a clear maker's mark, it is explicitly offered as attributed to Walter Bosse / Herta Baller.
An old paper sticker bearing the inscription "PETIT POINT – AUSTRIA" is affixed to the back.
The integrated thermometer displays both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales. It responds to temperature changes and appears to be functional. The exact measurement accuracy has not been verified.
